International Quran Recitation Association (IQRA)
International Quran Recitation Association (IQRA) is a not-profit govt. registered (S-13015) organization in Bangladesh, dedicated to spread the correct recitation and teaching of the Holy Quran. IQRA is also engaged in providing humanitarian aid services.
In 1966, the worlds renowned Quran Reciters (Qari’s) association ‘International Quran Recitation Association (IQRA)’ was established. The aim of establishing IQRA was to introduce the correct Quran recitation (Qira’at) in the whole Asian Continent (especially in the Subcontinent). In 1966 & 1967 IQRA organized international Quran recitation conferences in East & West Pakistan where Qari’s from 17 countries attended the conferences. Following after second conference the activities of IQRA came to a halt.
In 1991, the pioneer of correct recitation of Holy Quran of Bangladesh, Imamul Qurra Qari Muhammad Yusuf (Rah.) managed to reactivate the activities of IQRA in Bangladesh. IQRA has been organizing international Qira’at conferences at several locations in Bangladesh since 1991 till now. IQRA created an immense interest in and love for the correct recitation of the holy Quran among the people of Bangladesh. IQRA plays a vital role to strengthen our existing brotherly relationship with the people of Muslim countries in the world.
Under this organization the first and only one distinct Qira’at Institute of Bangladesh Ma’hadul Qira’at Bangladesh/ Institute of Quranic Science and Phonetics Bangladesh has been operational.
